Introduction to Arabic is a beginner course for students who have not previously studied Arabic. This course will introduce you to the letters and sounds of the Arabic alphabet, as well as a number of greetings, common phrases and basic vocabulary. By the end of this course, students will be able to read and write at the novice low level according to the ACTFL scale in Modern Standard Arabic (the language of radio, television and newspapers throughout the Arab World) as well as communicate with native speakers of Arabic at a very basic level. Introduction to Arabic (MSA) covers the entirety of the Alif Baa textbook as well as the first two chapters of Al-Kitaab, Part I.
